The therapeutic service comprises of two art psychotherapists with additional access to independent consultants’ when required to meet the needs of individual children. Our art psychotherapists, Alison and Jenny are both registered with HCPC (Health Care Professional Council) and are members of BAAT (British association of Art Therapists).

The therapeutic team works together with the Therapeutic Care and Education Teams to ensure that work with all children is consistent and integrated. The child’s therapist works directly with their care team; they attend Team Meetings, Team Around the Child (TAC) Meetings, oversee the child’s Therapeutic Plan and Therapeutic Goals and provide workshops focused on how the team can best meet a young person’s needs at any particular time. In addition, they support the therapeutic model across the organisation which underpins the therapeutic milieu.

Phases of Placement

Unique Care refers to a four-phase recovery model, adapted from the widely accepted three-phase trauma recovery to account for the inevitable transition out of residential care. The four phases are: stabilisation, integration, adaptation and transition.
